Sports Update
Manchester United wants West Ham United. Despite the news of Denzel Dumfries, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is transferring.
According to David Ornstein, Manchester United would rather sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United than finalize a transfer for Denzel Dumfries.
The Atheltic journalist told X on Tuesday (6 August) that the Inter Milan defender wants to transfer to Old Trafford, but that can only happen if Wan-Bissaka rejects a move to the London Stadium.
Dumfries is unwilling to extend his contract with the European superpower until after the transfer window shuts, but United would prefer to finalize a deal with the Irons and sign Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui.
Will Aaron Wan-Bissaka leave Manchester United amid West Ham United transfer rumours?
West Ham fans will be pleased with Ornstein’s update, which indicates that the Irons’ chances of signing Wan-Bissaka remain high, despite Dumfries emerging as an option. Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have been active in the transfer market, but have not been able to strengthen the fullback options and provide competition for Vladimir Coufal.
The Czech international is still a dependable defender who gives his all week in and week out, but with Ben Johnson departing for Ipswich Town, no one is pushing him for a spot in the starting XI.
Wan-Bissaka can change that. While the former Crystal Palace player isn’t the most polished defender with the ball at his feet, he is one of the division’s finest at working out of possession.
Hopefully, a deal can be done sooner rather than later. Once Wan-Bissaka is signed, the Hammers will have little else to worry about until the summer transfer window closes.
