Amid startling remarks made after the game, Graeme Souness believes that Mo Salah has already decided on his next destination beyond Liverpool.

Graeme Souness claims that Mohamed Salah has already made up his mind to depart Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.

Following the Reds’ 3-0 rout of Manchester United, the attacker seemed to imply that this season would be his last at Anfield, which fueled rumors about his departure.

After helping Luis Diaz twice in the first half and adding a goal of his own on minute 56, Salah had a great Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.

The most controversial remarks, however, came from him during the game. It appeared that he would depart the team when his present contract expires in the summer of next year.

The 32-year-old stated, “I had a good summer, I had a long time to work on myself and think positively because, as you know, this is my last year at the club,” in an interview with Sky Sports after the game.

However, former Reds captain Souness thinks that his remark was not an error and speculates that Salah has already made up his mind about leaving the team when his contract expires.

As he joined Jim White and Simon Jordan on talkSPORT, he stated, “Me, I think he’s actually made up his mind.” I believe he has a plan in place.

He continued: “Yeah, looking at it, I think that came out not the way he wanted it, because I think he tried to recover from it further in the interview on Sky yesterday.”

Souness then conjectured as to why Salah would want to relocate, speculating that Saudi Arabia would be a possible choice.

“You know, you’ve got to factor in his family as well,” he said. His spouse may wish to visit Saudi Arabia. He may wish to return with his children to a nation where Arabic is spoken.

“We are unable to respond to these questions.”

Jordan also acknowledged that he believes Salah will leave the team at the end of the current campaign, although he seemed to question his assertion that no discussions about a new deal had taken place.

He stated: “In the end, I’m presuming that his representative will have had discussions; it’s another matter entirely whether or not he had a direct conversation. People can also play with words.

“I’ve always thought he was going to Saudi Arabia.”

Jordan also made the point that, regardless of when Salah ultimately makes the decision to go, Liverpool will need to get ready for life without its lucky striker at some point in the near future due to his advanced age.

“I look at it and say there’s going to be a time Liverpool move on post Salah,” he continued.

“Now, Liverpool as a football team will continue to improve and will continue to be successful, whether it happens this year or in another year.

As this was going on, Souness hinted at a potentially big move for the star and talked about other prospective destinations for the attacker should he decide to leave Merseyside next summer.

“It would be nearly impossible for him not to have received offers from the big guys in Saudi Arabia,” he thought to himself.
