Manchester United are preparing an offer to finally sign the £100 million star before the deadline.

Manchester United have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee at the striker position, but they can’t seem to get past constant speculation about new strikers.

Why would the Red Devils seek to sign someone for the same position when they already have it covered?

While it is impossible to rule out the Old Trafford club making a catastrophic judgment given their current transfer success rate, this would be a new low by their standards. Manchester United do not require another new striker.

Brighton & Hove Albion wonderkid Evan Ferguson has long been linked with Manchester United. The Irish youngster has been linked with a move to the Red Devils for the past year.

According to the Daily Star, Dan Ashworth and co. are contemplating a lowball bid for Seagulls striker Evan Ferguson worth roughly £50 million.

The Red Devils are fearful that Chelsea may overtake them for the 19-year-old if they do not act quickly.

However, according to Ben Jacobs, Manchester United’s bid is significantly lower than Brighton’s £100 million assessment of the player. The Red Devils are only giving half of that sum, and the Seagulls are unlikely to accept.

Brighton is a well-run club that does not rely on sales to balance its books. They usually always sell more than they purchase, and if they keep to their pricing for Evan Ferguson, Manchester United will most likely be out of the race.

Spending £100 million on a position where we’ve already invested heavily in recent seasons and signed two attackers is poor transfer strategy.

Manchester United have many other areas of the field to focus on, so let’s hope they look beyond this transfer target and consider more realistic possibilities.
